SEASONAL COLOR STORIES

When we close our eyes, we can recall a specific scene from the past and along with its familiar ambience, a certain color can be associated with it, leaving a strong imprint in our memory.

What colors were inspired by your hometown or a place you visited?

A unique color linked to that special place unravels a story to tell. We prepared some seasonal color stories to share with you and wish to continue posting more going forward.

Come escape with us to various cities around the world and discover how each seasonal color made its way to NK.

BANFF, CANADA

As I awake, the gentle morning sunlight is shining through the window. Rubbing my eyes, I change into my jogging wear and head out into the city to start what has become my daily 5k run.

When I first started running, it was to familiarize myself with the city of Banff.

During my first few days here as a foreign student, I would get lost on my way back to my dorm, which was not fun, but now, I can almost say that a detailed map of the city is imprinted in my head including the location of the cafe I allowed myself to stop at as a reward at the end of my run.

I wait for cars to pass at the intersection of Beaver Street and Moose Street and realize how particularly clear the sky is that day. There was literally not a cloud in the sky!

I was almost certain that the lady standing beside me was thinking the same as she smiles and says "good day!"

Smiles are universal, and I feel fantastic at the start of the day.

I was very familiar with the famous fall scenery of the Rocky Mountains often featured on postcards but was more in awe of the greatness of nature which was amplified in contrast to the city.

I get revved up each time I approach the Banff International Hotel, which was where I worked part-time. Some co-workers of mine who were also international students spotted me and started waving their hands.

I hadn’t had a day off in quite some time. I am thinking of venturing out a little further to Lake Louise where I might spend some time relaxing with a favourite book.

2021 SEASONAL COLORS
HEMP COTTON RIBBED SOCKS
AUTUMN LEAVES

In Canadian autumns, the maple leaves change to red, yellow and all possible tones in between, making it the most colorful season of the year. It was tough deciding which national park to visit on my days off.

ALPACA WOOL CABLE SOCKS
TANGERINE PINK

The historic log cabins are one of Banff’s unique attractions. They line the streets showcasing their pretty pink roofs adding rhythm to the cityscape, making even a simple stroll enjoyable.

SKY BLUE

Start each day by looking up at the sky. The color of Banff’s skies are so clear and beautiful. Perhaps it is because of the crisp clean air that melts into the sky.

LINEN COTTON ANKLET
WOOL JACQUARD SOCKS
GOOD PURPLE

That purple apron was always worn by staff working in my favourite cafe. Despite it being a flashy color, it was somehow worn without drawing any attention to it. I loved my mornings with deep roast coffee.

LINEN RIBBED SOCKS
NATURE GRAY

The Victoria Mountain with a fresh powder of snow. Its grey appears brighter in the morning sunlight, then shifts to a deeper shade in the night.

LINEN ARM COVERS
CINNAMON BROWN

While studying abroad, I developed a sweet tooth for cinnamon donuts. This color makes me want to eat them again.

ICE COTTON GAUZE ARM COVERS
SPRING GREEN

The trees of the Canadian Rockies reach towards the sky. The new green leaves in spring bloom with a bit of shyness but by summer they grow triumphantly bringing such lushness. This transition is so fascinating to observe.

SILK COTTON SOCKS
CLASSIC WHITE

While studying abroad, I worked part-time at the Banff International Hotel. The off-white exterior of the building displayed some accents within a minimal design, evoking a feeling of nostalgia.
My co-workers at the time were all so easy-going and friendly.

MOHAIR WOOL PILE SOCKS
MOHAIR WOOL BORDER SOCKS
LAKE BLUE

Banff is dotted with clear blue lakes. They may all appear the same but each one has its own charm which is amusing to observe. Whether on a cruise or viewing from afar, why do I never get bored of these lakes?

WOOL RIBBED SOCKS
VERMILION

When the Rocky Mountains fill the season with color, words are not necessary to describe its beauty. Like the shutter of a camera, your eyes will want to capture the breath-taking scene again and again.

EGYPTIAN COTTON RIBBED SOCKS
MILK TEA

Sweets doughnuts and milk tea were the perfect combination to get me through the harsh Canadian winters. I liked my tea with no sugar and a generous helping of milk.
